چکیده

Abstract. Ti-6Al-7Nb alloy was quenched below and above the β-phase field processed by high-pressure torsion (HPT) to produce different grain sizes in ultra-fine range. The influence of temperature strain rate over superplastic properties, activation energy sensitivity were evaluated high tensile tests. mechanical properties complemented with Vickers microhardness measurement heat treated HPT-processed samples. crystallographic analysis performed through XRD EBSD studies grip tip specimens. Microhardness measurements show significant hardening respect imposed after HPT. Meanwhile, elongation 1200% accomplished at 850 °C a 2x10-3 s-1. failed specimens suggest that part exhibited dynamic recrystallization during test, which produced larger size ~5.1 µm higher fraction β phase 3.7%, under static recrystallization, attained ~3.4 3.3% fraction.

Superplasticity of a nano-grained Mg–Gd–Y–Zr alloy processed by high-pressure torsion

While most of the reports on Mg-Gd-Y-Zr alloys report superplasticity after extrusion or friction stir processing, it is important to investigate superplasticity in these alloys after other severe plastic deformation processes having greater grain refinement capability. Accordingly, superplasticity was studied in an Mg–9Gd–4Y–0.4Zr (GW94) alloy after different high-pressure torsion (HPT) condit...

Comparison among Mechanical Properties of Investment-Cast c.p. Ti, Ti-6Al-7Nb and Ti-15Mo-1Bi Alloys

The present study compares castability and mechanical performance among alloys of c.p. Ti, Ti-6Al-7Nb and a newly-developed Ti-15Mo-1Bi in regard to their as-cast state. Experimental results indicate that average cast length of Ti-6Al-7Nb appears a little lower than c.p. Ti and Ti-15Mo-1Bi, although the differences are not significant. C.p. Ti has an hcp phase of lath-type morphology with serra...

Tensile fracture during transformation superplasticity of Ti–6Al–4V

During thermal cycling through the a–b phase transformation under the action of a small external biasing stress, Ti alloys exhibit an average deformation stress exponent of unity and achieve superplastic strains. We report tensile experiments on Ti–6Al–4V with an applied stress of 4.5 MPa, aimed at understanding the failure processes during transformation superplasticity. The development of cav...

Corrosion resistance of Ti-6Al-4V and ASTM F75 alloys processed by electron beam melting

The electron beam melting (EBM) is a useful technique for fabricating alloys that are difficult to machine and require expensive tools as well as the presence of inert atmosphere for further treatments. Under vacuum, EBM provides a controlled environment, reducing the drawbacks of the alloys of their processing in a conventional manner and thereby improving their microstructure, which can enhan...

Microstructures and Mechanical Properties of Pure V and Mo Processed by High-Pressure Torsion

Two body centered cubic (bcc) metals, V and Mo, were processed by high pressure torsion (HPT) at ambient temperature. Hardness variation as well as microstructural evolution was examined with strain under a pressure of 2 to 6GPa. It was shown that the hardness increases with straining and saturates to a constant level with the grain size of 330–400 nm in V irrespective of the applied pressures....
